Children were given the opportunity to try out a number of different sporting activities as part of Park Road Community Primary School’s PE Day.

From Handball to axe throwing, children from all year groups took part in the special day which was organised with the help of outside facilitators.

The playground and sports hall were filled with laughter and determination as children learned how to pass and shoot in handball, practised accuracy skills in archery, and tried axe throwing under the guidance of instructors.

Cheerleading sessions allowed them to build teamwork skills and rhythm, while kin-ball, a fast-paced game involving a giant ball, created an atmosphere of excitement and friendly competition. Karate sessions introduced basic techniques and discipline in a safe, structured environment.

The sun shone throughout the day, adding to the joyful atmosphere across school with children engaged and enthusiastic as they moved between sessions, with many pupils expressing how much they enjoyed the chance to try something different.

Teacher Miss Shirley said: “It was a lovely day filled with sun and fun and we all had a blast!”

PE Day was great fun and provided the children with great enrichment opportunities to ensure all children can develop confidence, discover their strengths, and enjoy the benefits of an active lifestyle.
