A Week of Wellbeing and Rock Music

Children put wellbeing centre stage as part of Children’s Mental Health Week, with a full programme of activities which focused on belonging and emotional health.
The week at Park Road Community Primary School began with a visit from the Schools Link Mental Health Team, who worked with Reception and Years 1 to 3 delivering workshops tailored to younger pupils. They also hosted a parents’ workshop, which received positive feedback.
Throughout the week, children explored the theme of belonging and discussed practical ways to look after their mental and emotional wellbeing. Mindfulness sessions were delivered in school, giving pupils time to reflect and develop strategies to help them feel calm and connected.
Creativity also played a key role with every child producing a piece of artwork based on the theme “This Is My Place”. The school’s Happiness Team will now use the artwork to create a whole-school mural celebrating the idea that everyone belongs and is part of the community.
The week concluded with a visit from Rock Kidz, who transformed the hall into a concert venue for the day. Classes took part in workshops centred on kindness before coming together for a whole-school rock concert. Pupils and staff embraced the occasion by dressing as rock stars, and even teachers joined in with dance-offs!
The concert was a great, memorable way to round off the week dedicated to mental health awareness and community.
